Versatile Grenache
Celebrate International Grenache Day September 17 with a bottle of LDV Winery Grenache. Below are three fun facts about this versatile grape.
Did you know that Grenache is the second most planted grape variety in the world? Second, only to Cabernet Sauvignon.
We call Grenache the Pinot Noir of the desert. It is a medium-bodied red that pairs beautifully with sushi, roast salmon, or grilled chicken. But also try with fresh fruit, prosciutto, and brie cheese.
Called Garnacha in northern Spain, this grape variety dates back to 1513. It is commonly blended with other grapes, but at LDV Winery we love to honor the rich, complex Grenache on its own. Try LDV’s 2015 Grenache aged for 35 months in 50% new French oak & 50% one-year French oak with medium plus toasting. It has beautiful floral aromas that give way to rich fruit and spice on the palate.
